Assuming we pound Norway 2-day...( & with all due deference to dem Polar Bears ) that seems like a safe assumption...Our guys would get the winner of Tre Kronor vs. Czech , who r currently deadlocked 1-1 after 2 periods

So my Q is who would u rather face ?

The Swedes have looked the better side vs. Czechs so far today, & have beaten them already once in the tourney...STILL Kronors would be my pick...

We beat 3-Crowns last year fairly easily, & seem to have good luck against them overal at recent WC's + We've developed a good rivalry with them ( a la Rus / Yanks ) & those games have been fun to watch...

By contrast, We really haven't matched up well vs. Czechs, historically ...Think the last time we beat them was one of them Gold Medal Andy Murray coached teams, with Sean Burke/ Luongo etc...

Most of the other games have been mighty frustrating for TC/ their fans...Yup this is stereotyping ...NEVERTHELESS...those Czechs have been masters of diving / goading our guys into taking penalties...They've been very disciplined/ patiently defensively while also counter-attacking quite well themselves...

That Czech goalie doesn't look too good this year, giving up lots of juicy rebounds...and maybe things would be much better for us on BIG Ice...

Still give me a date vs. Tre Kronor in Semis SANS DOUBT !

I would also prefer the Swedes.
If I remember correctly, the Czechs were the only ones last year that actually came close to beating us (we won in OT).
For some reason I think the Swedes would be easier to beat. TBH I haven't seen the Czechs/3 Kronors play this tournament but meeting the Swedes in the semi final doesn't worry me as much as meeting the Czechs would.

Well at that point Lucy...the score was 2-2, with Sweden just tying it up...BUT that second Swede goal , as I mentioned in this thread, was a FLAGRANT case of GOALTENDER INTERFERENCE...

Now I was cheering for Sweden...However Hockey Karma demanded that Czech score a GWG , to set the COSMOS RIGHT...

Didn't happen ...

If its really Karma that counts on hockey, then so be it. Thumps up and hope for the best, at least thats what the russian referees does. There was no GOALTENDER INTERFERENCE! Hnilicka was skating outside the goal area and therefore contact was allowed. Further, it wasnt really a tackle on him, he was kind of clumsy falling due to the minor hit he got. Also, Wallin backed of when he felt Hnilicka behind him, a better goalie would have gotten up quicker and made the save.

Canada-SWE will be tough game for Sweden and for sure CAN are favourites to win.. but Sweden hopes for a repeat of their win in WC 2006
