What was to like about that game except for the final moment? Dirty play by Swedes, that did not pay off this year as Finn's paid off last year in the semis, I'd rather enjoy "beautiful" game as you put it, unfortunately Swedes had another idea of this game, I don't like the games where people get hurt that much.

For the record, Swedes took 1 Belorussia, 1 Swiss guy, and now 1 Russian out of play, the first two are definitely out of the tournament, Morozov is still being examined. I wonder what's good about it? Are you violence hungry guy? Just watch more Canadian TV, you'll get it.

Aurelia- 05-11-2008
I wouldn't say last year's semis were dirty. Nothing like this there.

Lot's of drama yesterday, too bad Ovetchkin got to be the hero after being a complete ass for 59 minutes and 54 seconds. The check by Murray was a bit childish - he had told Morozov before the game that you'd better keep your head up or I'll get you. There really shouldn't be "getting you" in hockey. I don't think even Murray in all his pride and glory wants to be responsible for injuring someone for life.

And what about the outburst by the beautiful-eyed Henke Lundqvist at the end... I know he is passionate about what he does, but still. I was just surprised, as we haven't seen something like this in these WC's yet.

Zereks- 05-11-2008
I told you one thing - if Murray had not been such as asshole, Lundquist would not have cracked his stick, I can not say I enjoyed watching him to that, but something inside me said something about justice... Swedes got exactly what they deserved

Aurelia- 05-11-2008
Yeah, I'm sure it was just pure frustration, and we can't blame him for that. And I'm never sad to see Swedes lose... Especially if they really act stupid. But Ovetchkin was no Sunday school child either yesterday, so...

Zereks- 05-11-2008
Well, 2 points (goal + assist), another crossbar hit, add here emotions all the Russian team had after the Murray hit and here you go, seems he had been very effective in that game. Anyway, I do agree he has more potential than he showed yesterday

I can only agree to it being childish.

Murray also got the "Best player of the game" win, voted by the viewers in Sweden.
How long was he on the ice? 5 minutes?
I did not get that at all. blink.gif

Aurelia- 05-11-2008
Well, Ovetchkin is young and proud. And often times foolish. The only thing that saves him is that he knows how to score. Which fuels is pride and foolishness, which probably makes him score even more, which makes him ever more proud and foolish... You get the idea biggrin.gif.

Personally, I have no respect for people who think they're all that. But I also admit that I don't know him personally, so I could be very wrong.

I'm not so familiar with Murray, but yesterday he came across as an arrogant ass. Too bad we don't have Swedes on this forum, so they can't tell us why they like him and how they saw the incident. But at Expressen's web page 90 % of voters said it was a nice clean check.

Balder- 05-11-2008
Well, Murray did warn Morozov before the game started to keep his head up. But did he listen? Nooooo lol

I'm not going to argue about what was dirty or not (Oveckin's kneeing and Afinogenov's slashing in particular wink.gif ) But would've been odd if the game didn't become intense after that little scrum with Murray's hit and Kovalchik and Strålman sent out from the game. And daaaamn i loved to watch it! First game in a long time i didn't turned the TV off. Was a great showing of both teams (and goalies especially).

I was afraid it'd be a blow-out for the Russians after both Edler and Murray out. Only 4 defencemen left could get ugly for us. But they sure did a great job! Although Oveckins goal was the anti climax lol.

That said, grats to Russia for the win, and we might just meet in the quarter again, and with Murray and the rest of the defence back, it might be a interesting game again lol.

Aurelia- 05-11-2008
Hey, there's a Swede smile.gif.

Well I agree about Russian being dirty as well, that's exactly why I didn't like the fact that they got to be the heros.

But the thing about Murray and his warnings is exactly what I mean: what gives him the right to do that, even if someone keeps his head down? You could seriously hurt someone. Yes, keep your head up. No, don't go through with the check if someone is stupid enough to keep their head down.

I guess Swedes like him because he's enjoy crushing his opponents lol. Kind of like Kronwall in Detroit.

Looked pretty clean to me from what i saw. Saw a youtube clip of it, and kind of looked like Morozov hit the other Swedes skate to his head when he went down.

Aurelia- 05-11-2008
I could've almost agreed about the cleanness of the check, but then I heard his comments afterwards.

Guess he saw Morozov getting the puck, targeted him for a hit, but ofc couldn't stop the last second. tongue.gif

You could almost say he's Sweden's Jarko Ruttuu then. tongue.gif wink.gif

Balder! Are you nutz? WARN? Ok, for example? I'm warning you before the game: watch your head! And then during the game I'll smash your head with a stick from behind! I'm right, and you are stupid! I warned you so I have the right to do anything I like with you! Brilliant!

Some of slashings by Russia... well Sweden are just actors nothing more!

Aurelia, I gues you're from Finland, tell me what would you say if such bastard as Murray'll attack Teemu from behind for fun, and diagnosis for your great forward'll be concussion of the brain. That means, that championship for him is over! So tell me, what would say?
