It was Aameul that brought up why this win was very important to Russians.. the IIHF 100th was one reason
I didn't get into an arguement simply stated why we don't hold the IIHF is high regard & why... which I think was curtious....one simple sentence no more.
Never asked the clock to be turned back or anything even remotely like it
It's very obvious we are over that era's blatant disregard of Canada...we hosted this event.

I don't get the crack about opening your wallet. There is a production company that does the broadcasts that are the same whether you are sitting in Prague or in Kamloops, it is produced by a Swedish company. Then the IIHF sells the rights to various television stations like TSN or Ceske Televize. If you think that hockey canada has to pay the television stations to broadcast the hockey, then that is way out to lunch.

Of course I didn't mind them doing it earlier, I had enough late nights as it was...

No ..... IIHF have money to tv-rights as you noted ..... if games are played in prime in Canada ,that means 0-5 am in europe ....that means less tv-audiense and that means tv stations dont pay as mutch money to IIHF to tv-rights ....... IIHF need that money,so if hockey Canada like to organize games in Canada ,they need to subsidize that money to IIHF way or other .......get it?

I know i wasn't pleased having to miss several games because they are being held at 1220 BC time when the tournament is being held in our own backyard so as not to upset european sleeping habits. The world juniors is an IIHF sanctioned event which is most popular in Canada and where the IIHF makes the most money off it and i've got my ass out of bed religiously at times like 5-6 in the morning to watch our games when they are held in Europe.

hey, i can live with that!!............it's the IIHF after all, i can't expect all times to be catered to us when it's an International body dedicated to the good of the game.

That's what we wonder about over here and considering their history towards us..................i suppose you won't be surprised to hear they we know they aren't.

In Finland ,they show couple of game if young lion get succeed ......so not mutch .... i dont know other coutryes

I personally watch them every year. And yes, they do show both U-20 and U-18 games on Russian TV (pay tv sports channel). Very entertaining events indeed.

As far as I know IHWC only has pockets of high TV audiences...
Sure Finland is a big market % wise but hardly a huge market $$ wise!
The IIHF works like any other world body; they are guaranteed X amount of dollars upon awarding of the games it is then the organizing committee's job to sell everything from logo merchandise to TV broadcast rights to pay for the bills and maybe make a profit.
We were close not to host the games because the Quebec Government wasn't willing to guarantee money should there be a shortfall.

So if Hockey Canada can't sell enough over here then I can see them changing schedules to accommodate Euro Broadcasters in order to make enough $$....

according to Hockey Canada that was not the case!
TV broadcast times were done with the Stanley Cup in mind, trying not to conflict with them. Certain games will be scheduled for a Euro audience but any elite game, will in future, be held in our prime time ....guaranteed!

Again the money the IIHF makes is guaranteed upon awarding of the IHWC...
So We paid X amount regardless of TV rights...

Ray Canuck, thank you for the good words about Zenith! You are right, but Cuemaster said right too! You do not love IIHF much, so to bring WC totally to Canada they MUST refuse from european auditory. Any translations'll take place here 24:00 - 5:00 or a bit later! Canada's interest for WC games is poor! So IIHF don't want to loose money! It'll take years to awake canadian interest to WC! For instance: the last final took place in Canada at 13:00! In Moscow it was 21:00! Russia - Switzerland 19:15 in QC and 3:15 in Moscow! So, as you can see NA primetime is not acceptable for Europe! So as World Cup that took place in Canada wasn't popular in Europe, just in the reason of time! It's complete circle, and unfortunately there is no way out! What do you think?
