Sometimes Canada's the best,....sometimes its not...same thing goes to russia... If you would be the best all the time... you would've won every single world champs....however this is NOT the case...
everyone knows zaugg makes wierd statements, so why bother arguing about his views?
Nobody cares whose the best hockey nation but support their own team.
Hey its hockey!
Zereks, you make the same case many european did years, when they saw a team with a Canadian crest on it, they assumed this was the best of the best we have to offer.
Because all the other nations always had their best, as intenational competitions were setup by europeans. Canada and the US for reasons explained many times, had players called pros that were banned, and also were concerned with their own league, quite different from yours.
In 1972 I've always maintained the series shouldn't have been so close. The NHL for the first time represented Canada and had no experience creating an all-star team.
In fact the games in Canada were really a wash as it was used to determine chemistry as so many different players were used. By tournament's end, I still believe this team came nowhere to its peak or what they were capable of doing.
Your statement that the "CCCP beat the 1974 Team Canada" is evidence of your lack of knowledge in Canadian hcokey affairs. Did you not notice many of the star players as Esposito, Dryden, Park, Orr, and many others were not involved?
Enoough I have been through this argument many times.
Canada has won the World Championships more times and have more medals than anyone...fact....end of story.
When countries guage how good they are...Canada is the measuring stick..not Russia, Sweden or Czech Rep.....it's Canada.
Depends what time period you are talking about.
However, you'll never be the best because you can never win all the world championships
Right, if we talk about 1986, then it was Russia who most of the gold in the Worlds, so everyone was aiming at the Russians

LOL

In 86 Canada still was not allowed to send its top players to IIHF tournaments. Then in 87 Canada prevailed in the CC.
Still, this is hockey and anything can happen. Just ask the Swedes.
Sure anything can happen, so as I understand your position is: anything can happen and Canada lose, but it's only "shit happens", if somebody else loses it's system, is that what you are saying? This is not discussion then, it's just you stating over and over and over again that "Canada is the best, no questions about that, nobody should argue that, Canada is always the best, even if it eventually loses, because there are certain reasons for it"
You are funny, of course you can keep your faith, but respect the "faith" of the others then
^ I have no problem with others' faith in their teams. What makes me laugh is the subjective "objectivity" of most Russian fans.

What makes hockey a great game is that anything can happen. Who can forget the 80 OG? To be fair though, that "Miracle on Ice" team did have a fair number of guys who went on to solid NHL careers.

That team also spent a number of months together, (just like the Soviets did) trying to be better Russians than the Soviets were.

Zuagg missed that one though...
^ The CCCP team spent years together. The entire Soviet hockey system was set up to support the national team.
That Zaugg dude is just a one-eyed horse with double blinders on..
